Our CLOG Visit to Hartington : Easter 2019

On our memorable CLOG Easter visit (18-23 April) we found that Hartington is great for gentle walks of 10 to 12 miles along the famous Dovedale and along the hill tops to destinations such as Pilsbury Castle (rems of). Cyclists also found delight in the many trails, including the Tissington Trail, the High Peak Trail and the Manifold Way. Sightseeing was a further interesting ingredient of our away break; the famous spa town of Buxton - a rival to Bath - and the 40s celebrations at the Crich Tram Museum both featured on our busy leisure schedules. Our base was Hartington Hall, a lovely manor house dating back to 1611. The Weather Gods were very much on our side, with temperatures ranging from the high teens to the low twenties and not a drop of rain! We all agreed that our away break in Hartington was a great success. Thank You Melissa for organizing this great visit!

It's Good Friday and we are on our way to Beresford Dale, Alstonefield and Dovedale.
As you see, the Weather Gods are looking benignly on our exploits.

In these Web Pages

In these web pages you will see something of what we did on our busy - yet relaxing - Easter break. While what you see here is from my perspective, I try and put across to you my visitor the basic concept that CLOG away breaks are definitely of a multi-activity nature!

A Big Thank You !

A big thank you, Melissa, for so diligently organizing this trip. You made a splendid choice of Hartington Hall as an historic place to stay and from which to set out on our daily excursions. Thank you, event leaders, for leading walks and cycling trips and arranging "cultural" visits. Thank you, Paul, for arranging our communal meal on Sunday. Thank you to all for your company and for your contributions. Thank you to the Weather Gods; we had excellent weather throughout our stay!
