Patterdale - Other & Additional Activities

One of the strong points of CLOG is that an away visit usually spawns several parallel activities. So it was at Patterdale. The web pages you have seen so far, describe activities which I personally experienced. The focus in Patterdale, by virtue of its location, is mainly on outdoor activities, and this time we could not rely on road transport to reach readily more touristy places further afield. However, here is a sample of additional, outdoor-based, activities that also kept us busy during our time in Patterdale.
  1. Penrith to Patterdale: October 16: John E. was able to pack light and took advantage of the mild autumn weather to cover the 15 miles to Patterdale from Penrith station on foot. I met him coming down from Boredale Hause in the afternoon.

  2. Angle Tarn: October 19: Tony (he of "three blankets" fame and he of "aromatic shoes in Coniston" fame ... and more!) braved Sunday's weather to do a solo circular walk taking in Hartsop and Angle Tarn, and using his Wellington Boots to do so!

  3. Aira Force: October 20: Ralph, Matthew and Tony turned off the path up to Raise to explore a lower-level, but very scenic, route leading to the famous Aira Force Waterfall.

  4. Pooley Bridge to Penrith: October 21: On the last day, Ralph and others planned a walk from Pooley Bridge back to Penrith Station.
