Our CLOG Visit to Porthmadog : April 2019

On our memorable CLOG Bank Holiday away break (03-06 April) we found that Tremadog, on the edge of Porthmadog, is great for "circular" walks of 10 to 12 miles to destinations such as the world famous Portmeirion as well as to the former Corseddau slate mining area with its Pont y Pandy slate mill. In addition, Criccieth Castle and Snowdon were also on the agendas for some of us. We actually stayed in the birth place of Lawrence of Arabia no less. The Weather Gods were very much on our side, with temperatures ranging from the high teens to the low twenties and not a drop of rain! We all agreed that our away break in Tremadog was a great success. Thank You Georgina for organizing this great visit!

Here you see us on Saturday in front of the view of Porthmadog.
We are on our way to the world-famous Italianate village of Portmeirion.

In these web pages you will see something of what we did on our busy - yet relaxing - May Bank Holiday break. While what you see here is from my perspective, I try and put across to you my visitor the basic concept that CLOG away breaks are definitely of a multi-activity nature!

A Big Thank You !

A big thank you, Georgina, for so diligently organizing this trip. You made a splendid choice of Lawrence of Arabia's birth place (aka Snowdon Lodge) as an historic place to stay and from which to set out on our daily excursions. Thank you, event leaders, for leading walks and arranging "cultural" visits. Thank you, Sheila, for arranging our communal meal at Tremadog's "Golden Fleece" on Saturday. Thank you to all for your company and for your contributions. Thank you to the Weather Gods; we had excellent weather throughout our stay!
